Invitation – “Civil Society and Associations” Advisory Committee

by | Jan 22, 2024 | General

Since its creation, now a year ago, the National Asbestos Observatory (NAO) has held numerous consultation meetings in order to identify the most pressing research issues for communities in asbestos regions, which made it possible to set up an initial research program.

In order to put forward and continue the consultative and consultation processes, the NAO now wishes to structure a sectoral consultative committee “Civil society and associations”.

This committee will be made up of representatives of associations or NPOs, First Nations, local or regional committees, but also of citizens, involved in the development or reconversion of sites, concerned by the presence of asbestos in the environment or by the valorization of RMA, involved in community projects or linked to the health of populations and concerned by the sustainable development of regions formerly exploiting asbestos mines asbestos. The number of representatives is limited to one per group/organization and the number of citizens is limited to 6 people.

The committee will meet two to three times a year, most often virtually, to discuss, among other things, the concerns of the committee members and the progress of the NAO's work.

In order to complete this committee, the NAO is looking for citizens interested in the subject of mobilization and valorization of asbestos mining residues.

If you are interested in participating, please send a letter of interest to ona_infos@cegepthetford.ca specifying your motivation. The deadline to submit your application is February 2, 2024.

If several citizens are interested, we will carry out an evaluation of the applications to retain a maximum of six applications while promoting a diversity of members.

We would like to remind you that committee meetings aim for constructive exchanges in order to promote stakeholder engagement and enrich knowledge relating to the NAO mandate.
